One buyer, William Mills, developed on a plot of land now known as 78 Queen Street, and erected the lot’s first structures. When he passed way, Mills left the property to his daughter, Sarah, and on February 28, 1855 a local bookseller named John O’Mara purchased it from her for $1,500. Just around the corner from our inn, Rainbow Row is famous for its pastel colored homes with overflowing flower boxes and a slew of restaurants and cafes. The inn's 25 rooms are decorated in classic southern style. In 2018, The Elliott House Inn underwent extensive renovations pairing rich history with redesigned Southern chic rooms, newly renovated pergola and outdoor furnishings. In 1861, a huge fire burned nearly one-third of Charleston, including 78 Queen Street. Though many did not rebuild immediately, O’Mara constructed a three-story masonry single house shortly thereafter using salvaged bricks from the fire.

Turn left on Meeting Street and travel 1.5 miles to Queen Street. Turn right on Queen Street and The Elliott House Inn is ½ block on the right. Travel on Lockwood Boulevard approximately 1.0 mile, Lockwood turns into Broad Street. Follow Broad Street approximately 1.0 mile to Meeting Street. Turn left on Meeting Street and go one block to Queen Street. Turn left on Queen Street and The Elliott House Inn is ½ block on the right. Parking garage is located across the street from the entrance to the Inn. Cross the Cooper River Bridge and take the Meeting Street Exit.
